Why is Dyeing Your Greys So Important?

Written By Shery Oji

As men get older and start to notice more and more grey hairs, they often choose not to colour it. Many men with grey hair believe that dyeing it won’t look natural, and others are concerned about the social ramifications they may face. But, at Blade & Razor Barbershop, we believe that colouring your hair can give you a vibrant, refreshed, and natural look while also maintaining a youthful appearance. This can especially be achieved with the right products.

Why Do Men Avoid Dyeing Their Hair?

It is no secret that men often avoid dyeing their greys, and this is for a few reasons.
– Fear of Looking Unnatural
Even people who dye their hair often usually don’t want their appearance to scream, “hey look at me! I just dyed my hair!” Many men worry that colouring their hair will give them a look that seems unnatural or fake.
– Fear of Being Teased
Lots of men avoid colouring their greys due to the social backlash they may face, and this especially includes teasing. Nobody likes when someone points out one of your features in a teasing way, no matter how well you know them! So, many men would rather let their grey hairs show through thank risk dealing with any snide comments.

Why Should You Consider Dyeing Your Grey Hair

Although grey hair can be associated with wisdom and life experience, it may also make you look much older than you feel. Why not reflect your best self by looking the age you that you feel instead? Visiting us at Blade & Razor for hair colouring appointments about once a month as we recommend, will help you achieve a youthful look without changing your appearance too much.
We offer two different types of hair colouring services to fit your personal needs.

1. Permanent Hair Colour

Our permanent colour service offers coverage of 100% of grey hairs. This particular colour service is the most ideal for men with less than 50% grey hair. The colour lasts until your hair grows out more, which usually takes about a month to happen naturally. However, if your hair is 70% grey or more, the permanent colour option may not achieve the natural look you want to go for; providing solid coverage but can lack subtlety. However, if you are dead set on getting rid of the greys, the permanent hair colour will be your ideal option.

2. Blending Semi-Permanent Hair Colour

For clients who prefer a more natural look, we recommend our semi-permanent colour service. Instead of full coverage of all grey hairs, this option blends them in, creating a more salt-and-pepper look (heavier on the “pepper.”). The blended semi-permanent option is perfect for those looking for a more natural and conservative style; who don’t want anyone to notice that their hair has been touched up. Since this hair colour is not permanent, you can visit us for a semi-permanent colour service before any vacations, meetings, or other occasions where you want to look your best!
