From the OJIs
As the founders of Blade & Razor, it means a lot to us to share the work of our friend Mohsen Mousavi through the
Mousavisirat. We’ve known Mohsen for years—not just as an artist, but as someone who truly lives and breathes his craft. His creativity is fearless, his style always evolving, and every piece he makes feels alive with meaning and story.
It’s a real joy and honour for us to collaborate with him. Being able to bring his art into our space is something we’re genuinely proud of.
MOUSAVI CARPET GALLERY: A LEGACY OF MASTERY
Mousavi Carpet Gallery, founded in 1960 by artist Seyed Abolhassan Mousavi Sirat, is one of Iran’s oldest and most distinguished centers of illustrative carpet art. Renowned for its intricate designs, masterful weaving, and innovative use of color, the gallery has elevated this centuries-old craft into a celebrated form of cultural expression. His masterpieces—The Last Day of Pompeii, 1001 Nights, and The Last Supper of Jesus Christ—stand as living canvases in silk and wool. Each creation demands years of devotion, countless knots, and thousands of vibrant shades.

THE WOVEN EPIC OF FERDOWSI'S SHAHNAMEH
Mousavi created the world’s first woven book: the Shahnameh of Ferdowsi. This collection of 27 carpets brings the Persian epic to life, page by page, in silk and wool. Preserved in the Iran Carpet Museum, it honors Ferdowsi’s role in saving the Persian language and culture. The project combines traditional weaving with innovative techniques, turning poetry into lasting art.

UN SECRETARIES-GENERAL PORTRAITS
Mousavi also designed a unique collection of woven portraits of all United Nations Secretaries-General. Using advanced techniques and rich colors, he captured both their likeness and spirit. Today, these carpets are displayed at the UN headquarters in New York, symbolizing peace, culture, and the link between Persian art and world history.
